The mission
of the Foundation is to create awareness for women’s issues
and develop programs that provide a better life for women and their
children. Since 1999, the Foundation has raised over $1million
for various charitable organizations and projects.
Our primary
focus and concern is women because they are disproportionately
affected by poverty, joblessness, welfare, etc. According to the
United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) 70% of the more
than 1.5 billion people living on 1 dollar a day or less are women.
The gap between women and men caught in the cycle of poverty has
continued to widen in the past decade, a phenomenon commonly referred
to as "the feminization of poverty".
Caught in the
cycle of poverty, many women are further suppressed by gender discrimination — denied
rights to land, property and inheritance or denied access to critical
resources, such as financial loans and services — with few
opportunities to change their situation. Empowering women is a
critical factor in freeing the millions of people caught in the
cycle of poverty and hunger.
Our objective
is to bring awareness and fundraising to these issues and to give
women a "help up" which is good for the community, the
country and the world.
