ADOPT A VILLAGE
CHANGE THE WORLD

Partner with an entire community in Uganda

to help them move out of poverty

and into self-reliance.

In the deep heart of the Ugandan bush lies a rural community called Kikoiiro. Very little support has found its way to the people of this community. Until now...

In November 2006, I went to Africa with 40 women for the first-ever “Grassroots African Women’s Conference".

During the day, the women of East Africa shared their powerful stories of how they were dealing with fundamental issues like making sure their children are fed, getting clean water for their families to drink, treatment and prevention for Malaria and HIV, taking care of orphans with HIV, and providing an education for their children so they could create a hopeful future for their families.

I was deeply inspired by the women’s optimism and the commitment to create a better life for their families and left with their hearts in mine, praying for a way to help them.

When I returned home, I decided the best way to help the people of Africa was to partner with an organization that has experience in bringing essential services to communities in Africa.

With the partnership of my dear friend Debbie Ford, friends, colleagues and my Unstoppable community, we decided to adopt a small village in Uganda called Kikoiiro.

Why Africa? Why Uganda?

Because I can no longer ignore the facts:

~ 6,500 Africans die daily from AIDS -- a preventable disease that can be treated with anti-viral drugs.

~ 3,000 children die every day from malaria

~ 17 million Africans have died of AIDS

~ 13.2 million children have lost one or both parents to AIDS and that number will grow to 20 million by the end of the decade if things remain as they are

This is no longer just a cause. This is an emergency.

The lives of an entire continent are hanging in the balance and I’m asking you to join me. As Bono said, “The actions of one person can change a lot but the actions of many people coming together as one can change the world!”

Our goal is to raise $300,000 by May 30, 3008 to provide life-saving services to the people of Kikoiiro, Uganda and help lift them out of poverty and provide a foundation for self-reliance.

For just $100 a month

{$3.50 a day--less than a caffe latte!}

for 12 months, 120 Ugandans will receive the following essential services:

Education:

Provide a school and safe learning environment, high quality teachers, room and board for the teachers, books, desks and initial school supplies.

School Lunch Programs:

Simple school lunches are in many cases the only meal a child eats during the day. It also gives parents a reason to send their children to school.

Infrastructure:

~ Clean water for the entire community.

~ Installation of solar electricity.

Healthcare:

~ Proper immunizations, de-worming.

~ Malaria education, bed nets and treatment, etc. Malaria is the single greatest killer of children in Africa. A $10 insecticide treated bed net helps to prevent mosquito bites at night.
~ HIV Prevention and treatment.
~ Health and education programs for parents and caregivers so that they can better care for their children.

Micro-enterprise initiatives:

~ Loans provided to parents' businesses or skills to generate income to support their families.

Here’s what your generation donation will provide:

$100 a month ($1200 total) provides funding toward the above services for 120 Ugandans.

$500 Provides funding toward the above services for 50 Ugandans.

$100 provides funding toward the above services for 10 Ugandans.

$50 provides funding toward the above services for 5 Ugandans.

$30 provides funding toward the above services for 3 Ugandans.

Are these children worth $300,000?

I know they are and that's why I've committed to raise the funds that will lift them out of despair and hopelessness and provide a foundation for a brighter future.

I know that I speak for so many people when I say that these children are "just like my child".

Please join me and partner with the Kikoiiro community to build the first school, bring in life-saving community services and help the children of Uganda create an unstoppable story of their own.

"He who saves one soul-- it's as if he saved the entire world."

Our goal is to open the school on February 9, 2009 and launch the initial services.

We need the funds by May 30, 2008

to meet that goal.

Please consider donating or raising $1,000 to help us provide essential life-saving services and education to the children of Kikoiiro, Uganda.

This just might be the most impactful donation to a charity you have ever made.

Love and blessings,

Cynthia
